The Collection of Sidney Rothberg, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This lot is located in Philadelphia.

Condition
in overall fair condition. The laid paper is laid down to board, at least at its extremities as we notice slight undulations through the sheet, which confirms the work is only laid down at the outer edges. Lifting the mat in one of the corners confirms it. It also reveals a hand-drawn border around the image. The paper was likely blue to start with. With severe mat and light staining. The sheet is toned, with foxing marks visible in the sky in the upper right quadrant. The paper seems to have been merged with another sheet at center right, judging from the long seam running down through the composition. We notice pinpoint pinholes in the background at upper center right, on either side of the aforementioned seam. With dried glue residue at bottom center (2 droplets), on the path along the bottom outer edge. We also notice a watermark at upper left. With a beautiful powdery, often glittery, aspect throughout. Additional images available upon request.
Signature
signed F. du Puigaudeau (lower left); also located in pencil (verso)
